Overview and Epidemiology
Lois Stepney, MSW, LISW-S is a social worker at The Center for Family Safety and Healing at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Here, Ms. Stepney currently works as a Training and Development Manager where she seeks to spread the word about the importance of universal screening for family violence as part of the standard assessment processes for medical and behavioral health professionals with their patients/clients and within their related health systems.
Ms. Stepney also provides some clinical and technical support for a SAMHSA funded project which allows her to provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy services to traumatized adolescents and their adult caregivers. Ms. Stepney also works in the Emergency Department of the hospital where she is often paged on her shifts to assess and intervene in suspected child abuse/neglect cases, and/or in situations where family violence is a concern.
Ms. Stepney has worked in the social work field for over 17 years providing mental health services to client systems with a variety of clinical presentations including juvenile sex offenders, and now victims of child maltreatment. In addition to her own clinical practice, Ms. Stepney has throughout her years of practice supervised clinical staff, as well as supervised social work students. Ms. Stepney is an adjunct professor/community lecturer for the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University.
Refund Policy 1. Refunds for non-attendance will only be awarded if non-attendance is the direct result of an unplanned or unannounced outage. When a registrant is unable to access a webinar/course due to an unplanned or unannounced server outage of Heartbeat International Academy, the HeartbeatInternational.org website, or HeartbeatServices.org website, Heartbeat International will contact the registrant to notify them of the refund due them and issue the refund. Refund will be made to the registrant within 1 week of the cancelled event subject to processing fees. 2. When a course/webinar is cancelled for which individuals have registered, Heartbeat International will send a notification to each registrant per email or phone. Full refund will be sent to registrant within one week of cancellation.
