It is important that sexual health and relationship education occur in every setting in the pregnancy help clinic/center. It is important that the nurse/counselor/advocate is empowered and trained in having discussions around sexual activity, number of partners, coerced sex and trafficking and sexual assault. These are extremely personal situations surrounded by secrecy, fear and shame. It is important to understand the why and how of sexual health counseling, and to provide tools for successful outcomes.
Workshop participants will leave the webinar knowing how to:
Understand the need for sexual health and relationship education in the counseling setting and the importance of including it in almost every intake regardless of outcome of testing.
Be able to obtain and utilize counseling and communication "tools" to open up these sometimes difficult discussions that lead the client into real self-examination around her sexual activities and relationships.
